Sri L.K. Ananthakrishnan

Sri. L.K.Ananthakrishnan was born on 22nd June 1920 in Trichur, Kerala. He was the eldest son of Padma Bhushan L.K.Krishna Iyer and Smt. T.S.Kalyaniammal and the grandson of the pioneering Indian anthropologist Sri.L.K.Ananthakrishna Iyer.

After a scholastic career marked consistently with distinction, Sri.Ananthakrishnan obtained an M.A. in Mathematics from St.Joseph’s College, Tiruchirapalli. He then opted for government service in 1942. He was married to Smt. V.R.Sarada. Kum. Meera was the youngest of his three daughters.

In 1985 two tragedies struck him in quick succession. Sarada, his caring and supportive wife for forty years, passed away. His brilliant daughter, L.A.Meera, who showed potential to become a good research scientist, met a tragic end in the U.S.A. Setting aside his personal grief, he dedicated himself to establishing a Trust to perpetuate the memory of his daughter. He worked singlemindedly to overcome all problems and setup the Kumari L.A.Meera Memorial Trust for promoting education and research in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, subjects dear to Kumari Meera’s heart.

Sri. Ananthakrishnan passed away on March 4, 1998 after a brief illness. His life and work continue to inspire the Trust to strive to achieve its objectives.
